Ashton was founded in 1985 by Robert Levin and is headquartered in Philadelphia. Their cigars are made in the Arturo Fuente factory in the Dominican Republic. Ashton owns a couple other lines, including La Aroma de Cuba and San Cristobal, and they partnered with Jose “Pepin” Garcia of My Father Cigars to develop and manufacture these brands from his factory in Nicaragua.
The Levin family seems to have a solid operation, and runs a robust family business, with Robert’s son Sathya joining the company full time in 2004. In addition to their cigar lines, they are the owners of Savoy Humidors & Accessories and is the U.S. Distributor of Peterson Pipes & Pipe Tobacco. Good stuff.
